Daisy Scout Troop 186

Our next meeting is March 26, 2015

We will be earning the Gerri Petal: Respect Authority

Reminder!
Our bridging ceremony to Brownies is April 14, 2015 at 6pm
at the Girl Scout headquarters on Granny White

On February 26, 2015 the girls earned the Glorie Petal: Respect Myself and Others

We talked about how to respect yourself and others, just like Gloria the Morning Glory.
The girls were given cards with positive qualities like "you are smart", "you are creative",  "you are helpful", "you are friendly."  Each girl had a bucket and picked a card to match qualities they knew about their friends, and they filled each other's buckets. We talked about how each girl is different and we respect those differences, and to always respect others and the unique qualities that make them different from us. "We build each other up, we don't tear each other down".

On January 29, 2015 the girls earned the Tula Petal: Courageous and Strong Petal

Their parents sent us examples of how each girl was courageous and strong. The troop leaders read them out loud and the group tried to guess who we were describing. After it was revealed the girl got an "Awesome" stamp and put on a super hero cape and flew around the circle.
We were reminded that you don't have to have super powers to feel like a super hero. Each girl is brave and shows courage in their own way; facing fears, riding a scary roller coaster, meeting new friends, learning new things, and standing up for others.

We also had a special speaker, Miss Capps! She talked about the courage she needed on our trips to China to teach, and showed us pictures.

On January 24, 2015 some of the girls and their moms participated in a weekend of nature, cooking and adventures at Camp Sycamore for a "Me and Mine Sleepover"

On November 20, 2014 the girls earned their Zinni Petal:Considerate and Caring

They made a poster with encouraging words and artwork that Clara's mom took to hang at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital for patients to see.

On October 20, 2014 the girls earned their Sunny Petal: Friendly & Helpful
Sunny The Sunflower's story reminded us to be friendly and helpful.
