Using Resources Wisely Petal
We did a craft project with recycled materials.
We used milk cartons collected by Chef Dan for the planter, cups for the pot, popsicle sticks for the plant name, and leftover water from snack to water our
Impatiens that we planted.
We decorated with construction paper, and colored earths out of recycled cardboard.
We talked about recycling, ways to use resources wisely,
and read the story of "Clover" from the Daisy handbook.
We also made shirts for the girls to wear to our Daisy Scout Nature camp the following Saturday.
The girls are really getting the hang of the Girl Scout Promise, The Girl Scout Law,
and did a great job with the Friendship Circle this week!
Thanks to the parent volunteers, Hanna, Alice, Robyn, and special guest, Iris' grandparents from California. Robyn even made Daisy Scout cupcakes! Yum!
We had a fun time April 26th at our Troop 186 Nature Camp and Edwin Warner Park.
We learned about "Growing in the Garden".
Our nature guide, Sydney, told us about planting, making soil, the green house,
and even let us taste some yummy India Mustard in the garden... well yummy to some.
We listened to storys and drew pictures of a garden
in the beautiful Edwin Warner nature center.
We measured ourselves agains different veggies. The corn was taller than all of us!
We spent the rest of the day outside, having a snack including "earth" Cupcakes, playing in the dirt, and going on a storybook nature hike.
Thanks to the moms, Julia, Lauren, Robyn, Emily, Erica and Amy for helping with the camp.
Thanks Amy for donating the shirts.
